A Walk In The Woods

A Walk In The Woods

Appreciating what we already have shouldn’t be as challenging as it often seems. Why do we struggle with this simplicity? Is it a fear of detachment, a pursuit of pure satisfaction, or merely a desire to impress others?

Consider this: perhaps the fear of detachment drives us to constantly seek more. Alternatively, in our quest for pure satisfaction, we find temporary relief in activities like shopping, which offer a fleeting sense of calm and happiness. Or maybe, at times, our actions are motivated by a desire to showcase our accomplishments or possessions. Ultimately, the reason might not matter as much as the consequence: a soul weighed down by unfulfilled desires.

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. ~ Buddha

There is, however, a simple remedy. Find solace in walking through the woods, connecting with the earth, and taking a moment to just breathe. This connection with nature offers a genuine form of satisfaction, a stark contrast to the artificial fulfillment we often chase.

We’ve strayed from our roots, choosing paths that lead us away from our essence. Yet, there’s hope in realignment and rediscovery. As Seneca wisely said, “As long as you live, keep learning how to live.” Our journey isn’t fixed; we have the power to change course and embrace a more fulfilling way of life.
